California Science Standards and Bay Area Planetariums
Select one of the planetariums in the San Francisco Bay Area. Write a summary of its current show schedule, cite its web site, and discuss which California Science Standards may be addressed by the planetarium show. This information will be posted on the ESPACE web site. This project is due at the end of the first week after Spring Break.

This assignment is due after spring break. You are to create a special effects projector or signage for the planetarium. Possible projects include:
Meteor projector
Altitude angle projector
Sunset effects projector
ESPACE academy logo projector
Maintenance of planet and moon projector on the star ball projector-- including written instructions that improve on the planetarium manual.
Discuss with the teacher what you might need for the projector. This project is due immediately following spring break.

History of Planetaria report - assignment #1

Please write a two-page report on the history and current state of planetariums. Include the following information:
Where was the first planetarium installed?
How many planetariums are there in the United States?
How does a traditional "star ball" planetarium projector work?
What is the current technology installed in modern planetariums?
Distinguish between "horizontal" and "tilted" domes, and give advantages and disadvantages of each.
Select one planetarium and give information about its size, equipment, and location, plus its current shows. Consult with class members to make sure none of you do the same planetarium.
This assignment should be written in MLA format. You have one week to complete it. Ongoing projects are hereby suspended until this assignment is complete.
